About Us

All the members of the Milford Sports Center team are dedicated to providing a fun learning environment  where they can pass on their extensive knowledge and guidance to our campers.

Rich Gedman Runs Baseball Skills and Training Clinics at the Milford Sports CenterRich Gedman,  Baseball

Rich Gedman played major league baseball for 13yrs, 10 of which were with the Boston Red Sox as a catcher. He is currently the Hitting Coach for the Red Sox affiliated Lowell Spinners. Rich also served 6 successful years as the Manager of the Worcester Tornados including leading the team to the 2005 Can-Am League Championship during the team’s first year of existence. He was named the 2005 Can-Am Manager of the Year.
 
As a player his best seasons were with the Red Sox from ’84-’86 when he totaled 58 home runs, 117 RBIs and averaged a .275 batting average. He was an American League All-Star in 1985 and 1986 and played in two American League Championship series and the 1986 World Series. Gedman was a career .292 hitter in the postseason with 3 home runs and 8 RBIs in 18 games.

Rich, a native of Worcester, has remained connect to baseball since his retirement from the majors and now passes on his love of the game, skills and guidance to developing players.
 
  

 
Chris Colabello, Baseball

Chris has been an infielder for the Worcester Tornadoes since 2005 when he joined the league and helped the Tornadoes to the 2005 Can-Am League Championship.    Chris excels at hitting and holds a number of Can-Am League records including being the all-time hits leader and also holds the record for doubles. 
 
Chris is also in his second season as an Assistant Coach for Anna Maria College Men’s Baseball program where he is passing along his of professional baseball experience and hitting skills. 

Chris makes Milford his home and is widely recognized and admired throughout Central Massachusetts for his achievements with the Worcester Tornadoes.

Nick Salotti, Baseball
 
2011 Can-Am (Worcester Tornadoes) home run champion and all-star Nick Salotti is a native of Palm Desert, CA where he was a 3-year starter for Palm Desert HS. The 2-time Desert Valley League all-star attended NCAA Div I UC-Riverside where he was a freshman all-American. Salotti finished his college career with a .320 batting average, 55 doubles, 22 home runs and 134 RBI.

Salotti began his professional career in 2007 with the Florence Freedom (Frontier League) where he hit .315 with 15 doubles, 6 home runs and 29 RBI. Halfway through the 2008 season he was traded to the Evansville Otters (Frontier League). In 2009, Salotti was traded to the Worcester Tornadoes where he finished 3rd in the league in batting with a .315 average. He also had 24 doubles, 4 home runs and 42 RBI.

In 2011, Salotti had a career year with the Tornadoes. He led the league with 23 home runs and was 5th in the league with 73 RBI. He hit .298 with 19 doubles en route to being named to the Can-Am all-star team.
 

Mike Gedman

Mike is an Assistant Baseball Coach at Division 1 Bryant University in Smithfield RI and just completed his first season of professional baseball for the Worcester Tornadoes of the CANAM league.
 
Mike is from Windsor, CT where he attended Loomis Chafee High School and was a standout player. As a senior, Mike was the captain of the team and batted .540 with eight home runs, 26 RBI and registered a 7-0 pitching record. He led the league in batting average and wins during both his junior and senior years. In addition he was also named league MVP in both his junior and senior years helping his team to two league titles and being recognized both years by being selected to the All-State team.
 
After high school Mike attended Lemoyne College in Syracuse, NY for a year before transferring to the University of Massachusetts at Amherst where he pitched and played first base.
 
As a junior Mike led the team with a 2.42 ERA in 22.1 innings pitched, making 15 appearances out of the bullpen. He registered five saves which ties for fourth in program single season history and ranked fifth among the Atlantic 10 leaders. In addition he totaled 20 strikeouts to 13 walks limiting his opponents to hitting .192 against him. During his junior year he was named to the All Atlantic 10 tournament team.
 
As a senior, the season was highlighted by earning the win in a complete game effort, only allowing one run on five hits and striking out a season high ten batters against St. Joes. Also during his senior year he pitched eight strong innings at # 9 University of Oklahoma, allowing four runs on nine hits, while striking out six . During his senior year he batted .314 and lead the team in homeruns.
 

 
Lou Colabello, Softball
Lou has extensive experience in assessing players at the professional level as well as coaching at the youth level. 
 
Lou has been a scout for the Italian Professional Softball League, Forli, for the past 16 years where he has assessed players based on their skill sets.  
 
Lou also has a wealth of experience coaching youth sports. He is an instructor for the Milford Community Use Youth Softball Camp for 6 years as well as Director and Coach for the Douglas Youth Softball Camps for the past 5 years. Additionally he has coached at the varsity level at Douglas High School where he spent 6 years as Boys Varsity Baseball Coach and 5 years as Girls Varsity Softball Coach. 
 
 


Lori Salvia is one of the Talented Professional Who Run the Milford Sports Center's Sports Camps and ClinicsLori Salvia, Softball
 
A native and current resident of Milford, Massachusetts, Lori is the head coach of the Bridgewater State Bears Softball Team. She took on this role in 2010 and during her first season coached the team to a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) tournament title and to post season play as part of the NCAA Division III Tournament.  Lori was the pitching coach at Nichols College from 2005-2007 and was also the head coach of the Mass Wanderers Amateur Softball Association Junior Olympics Under-18 Team. She was also the head coach of the girls softball team at Franklin High School for 7 very successful seasons. 
 
Lori was a standout 3 sport athlete at Milford High School, competing in field hockey, basketball and softball. She played collegiately at Boston College and as a starting pitcher she help the Eagles capture three consecutive ECAC Division I Championships from 1988 to 1990. During the 1989 season she hurled her first no hitter.
 
Lori has 18 years of fast pitch softball coaching experience under her belt, is a member of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) and is a certified coach with the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA). In addition Lori is also the head coach of the Milford Hawks Special Olympics team, a position she had held for the past four seasons. 

Helen Deandrade

I am a seasoned fitness professional; certified by the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA). Over the years I've taught many different fitness formats but nothing makes me smile like Zumba.

My goal is to deliver you the best experience in each and every class. Whether you're a seasoned "gym rat" or a harried mom carving out an hour to yourself -- I guarantee there'll be something about Zumba that will make you smile too.
